Pet: Simon and Fishouttawater

Whether it be a Leopard Gecko or Siberian Hamster I have only a few pets in my life.  My first pet was a Leopard Gecko whom I named Leo.  It lived for about four years after buying it and then after a week vacation, it starved itself and died.
I later got a Siberian Hamster named Henry but for only about a year and a half it got cancer and died as well.  I wasn't as sad this time because he would constantly try to bite me.  Today however,  I have two fish whose names are Simon the Fish and Fishouttawater (Fish out of water).  However, these weren't the only two fish I had.  About a year prior to getting these fish they would dye about 1-2 weeks later.  Soon this just became an hassle as I lost around ten different fish over 3 months, mostly because some fish would attack and eat each other or I didn't have the proper equipment to clean the fish tank.  The deaths became so frequent that I stopped naming the fish all together.  After I was able to find the proper equipment which was at a completely different pet store than where I bought the fish they began to live longer.  Six different fish managed to live together for quite some time, but only two are alive right now as of writing this post and I had just came up with there names about two months ago.  I no longer want the fish and hope that they die at least before I go to college.  It has just become an annoyance to take care of them now.  What in the world was I thinking, getting a pet?  The one thing I wonder is how some people manage to take are of six dogs.
